1. What This Is

Doug OS is an AI-powered operating system for homes and businesses. When you sign up and pay, you get access to Doug's tools, learning platform, and support. These terms explain the deal between you and us.

2. Your Account

You're responsible for your account. Keep your password safe. One account per person. If you share your login, that's on you — we can't guarantee the security of a shared account.

You need to provide a real email address. We use it to send you important things like password resets, receipts, and system updates. We don't spam.

3. What You're Paying For

• Setup fee: One-time payment when you sign up. This covers installation and configuration of your Doug system.
• Monthly fee: Ongoing subscription that keeps Doug running — updates, support, and new features.
• Cancellation: Cancel the monthly anytime. No penalties. No hoops. Your data stays on your machine — we can't take it even if we wanted to.

3b. The Doug Guarantee — 30-Day Hold

Your money isn't spent until you're satisfied.

When you sign up, your card is authorized — the setup fee is held, not charged. For 30 days, you use Doug. You test everything. You see if it delivers.

• Day 1-30: Your money is on hold. It hasn't left your account. Doug is fully active.
• Day 30 — you're happy: The charge goes through. Monthly billing starts. Business as usual.
• Day 30 — you're not happy: We release the hold. The money goes back to your account. No charge. No dispute. No awkward conversation.

The 30-day guarantee covers the setup fee only. The monthly subscription is cancel-anytime — stop paying whenever you want, no penalties, no partial-month refunds. That's standard.

This isn't a refund policy. This is a "we don't take your money until you're sure" policy. There's nothing to refund because we never charged you.

We build things that work. If we shipped something broken, that's on us, not you.

4. What Doug Does and Doesn't Do

Doug is an AI assistant powered by artificial intelligence. He's good at writing, research, organization, automation, and running tools. He is not a lawyer, doctor, financial advisor, or therapist. Don't rely on Doug for professional advice in those areas.

AI output disclaimer: Doug generates responses using AI. These responses may contain inaccuracies, outdated information, or errors. You are responsible for reviewing, verifying, and deciding whether to act on anything Doug produces. Doug OS is not liable for decisions, losses, or outcomes resulting from AI-generated content.

Doug runs on your machine. Your data stays on your machine. We don't store your conversations, documents, or personal files on our servers. We do not use your data, conversations, or files to train AI models. Ever.

5. Your Data

• Your data is yours. Always.
• We store your account info (name, email, hashed password) on our server for login purposes only.
• Doug's AI runs locally. Your conversations with Doug don't leave your machine.
• If you cancel, you can export everything. We delete your account data within 30 days of cancellation.

6. What You Can't Do

• Reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute Doug OS.
• Use Doug to generate illegal content, spam, or anything that harms others.
• Share your account credentials with others or resell access.
• Attempt to bypass tier restrictions or payment systems.

7. Uptime and Reliability

Doug runs on your hardware, so uptime depends on your machine. Our server handles authentication and updates — we aim for 99.9% uptime but can't guarantee it. We'll always communicate planned maintenance in advance.

8. Support

HOME gets email support (24h). OFFICE gets email + chat (8h). OFFICE+ gets priority support (4h). ENTERPRISE gets direct access to the founder (1h).

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll email you and post the update here. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms. If you disagree, cancel your subscription.

10. Liability

Doug OS is provided as-is. We do our best to make it reliable and useful, but we're not liable for decisions you make based on Doug's output, data loss from hardware failure, or third-party service outages.

Liability cap: Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Doug OS shall not exceed the total fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim. This applies to all causes of action, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise.
